MAX Launches into 2016
Welcome to our new website, we are excited to share it with you! The new site is the culmination of many months of work. This isn't just a re-work of our old site, much of the technology powering the previous site was developed in the late 90's and early 2000's when we were getting started. We literally threw away the old site and started over! One thing you may notice about the new site is that it is responsive, which is a fancy tech term indicating that it will work just as well on your tablet or smart phone as it will on your laptop. Phase one is complete, and we have more great resources and tools we plan to roll out over time, so stay tuned.
One of Mid-America Xtreme's main goals has always been to promote and grow the sport of Adventure Racing, and that requires lending a helping hand to those who are just getting started in Adventure Racing. While the new site promotes our events, you will notice that large portions of the site are now dedicated to those interested in, or just getting started in Adventure Racing. We provide tips on putting together or joining a team, help in choosing gear, information on training, how to become more proficient at land navigation and more. If we want to continue to grow the sport it is going to require a concerted community effort that we hope to engage more people in. We would like to continue to grow this section of the website, so if you have something you would like to contibute, please let us know.
Finally, we are proud to announce our 2016 events! We will be holding two events in 2016. The Mid-America Xtreme Adventure Race returns, as always promising to provide an adventure as epic as an expedition length race, just compressed into twelve hours! We have a great unsupported course this year that will challenge rookies and vetrans alike. In addition we have a new event that we are launching this year, the MAX Adventure Challenge. The event will be approximately 4 hours in length and provide beginners in a sport a taste of what Adventure Racing is all about. The Mid-America Xtreme Adventure Race and MAX Adventure Challenge will be held simultaneously, and timed such that the racers from both events will finish around the same time and particiate in one large post race party!
Remember, thrills are not found in a guidebook, and adventure is not found on a map, you have to get out and experience it. Come and share the Mid-America Xtreme experience!
